George Francis Worth (1919 – 1970)


Early Life

George Francis Worth was born on 23rd January 1919, the son of Richard Henry Worth (1893โ€“1947) and his wife Annie Elsie Worth (nรฉe Harris). His registration in the Tavistock birth register indicates he was born prior to his parents’ move to Plymouth.(๐Ÿ”’England & Wales Births 1837-2006)

Career

Like his father and brother, George pursued a career with the railways. In the 1939 Register, he is recorded living with his parents at 55 Glendower Road, Plymouth, with his occupation listed as a porter for the Great Western Railway. (๐Ÿ”’1939 Register, RG101/6774E/007/22, Plymouth C.B.)

Marriage & Family

On 12th March 1941, George married Pearl Lucy Cundy at St. Pancras Church, Pennycross, Plymouth.(Devon Marriages And Banns, Plymouth & West Devon Record Office)

Together, George and Pearl had two children:

  • ๐Ÿ”’David Worth (b. 1960)
  • ๐Ÿ”’John Worth (b. 1964)

Later Life

Pearl passed away in September 1968, leaving George a widower until his own death in March 1970 in Plymouth (๐Ÿ”’England & Wales Deaths 1837-2007).
