Dartmoor Press

Dartmoor Press was a micro-publisher based in Plymouth run by local researcher and author Mike Brown. Between 1994 and 2001 Dartmoor Press produced over 400 small booklets relating to Dartmoor and West Devon including field surveys, transcripts of parish and manor registers and general local history information. Such publications later transitioned to digital delivery through CD-ROM and USB sticks.

These days physical copies are scarce, however Mike did donate a copy of his publications to the Plymouth and West Devon Records Office who’s collection is now at The Box in Plymouth. For some areas of Dartmoor a decent overview was provided by descriptions and annotations on the Dartmoor Press website, this has since been taken offline around the end of 2007, however a copy of it exists within the Internet Archive and can be accessed via the following link – https://web.archive.org/web/20060114114715/http://www.dartmoorpress.clara.net/, information specifically about Walkhampton may be found here – https://web.archive.org/web/20060520194049/http://www.dartmoorpress.clara.net/Walkhampton.html.

I also have a physical copies of some Dartmoor Press publications, these cannot be shared due to still being within copyright, however if you have a specific request please let me know and I’ll endeavor to look up if these publications have any information.
