The oldest ancestor identified of the Worth family of Walkhampton has been researched to Nicholas Worth (approx 1655 – 1699), unfortunately no further ascendents could be researched due to the destruction of parish records in the English Civil War (1642 – 1651). Nicholas tenanted at Riddipit Farmstead, with his wife Mary (1659 – 1695) of unknown lineage, and worked as a tinner up the hill at Keaglesborough tin mine. Both place names have been lost to history and do not appear on modern maps although remnants of the previous farm house and mine workings are visible when walking North from Burrator reservoir at Norsworthy Bridge towards Crazywell Pool.
