Early Life
Doreen Elsie Worth was born on 30th May 1933, the daughter of Richard Henry Worth (1893–1947) and his wife Annie Elsie Worth (née Harris).
Doreen was my Great Aunt, and it is thanks to her extensive family history research conducted during the 1990s that much of the foundational record for this website exists.
Household & Family Memories
Initially, Doreen grew up at 55 Glendower Road, Plymouth, alongside her parents and extended family members, including her brother James Henry Worth (1916–1986), his wife Bessie, and their children.
My Aunt Barbara recalls sharing a bedroom as a young child with Doreen and another young girl named Shirley, whose exact relationship to the family remains unconfirmed, though my aunt thinks she was likely a cousin.
Marriage & Later Life
In 1954, Doreen married Donald Lanaway. My Aunt Barbara remembers attending their wedding as a nine-year-old bridesmaid, wearing a purple dress with a velvet collar.
Doreen passed away on 20th February 2019.
